The Art of Hand Block Printing

Each DoodleChic kurta begins its journey not on a machine, but in the hands of a skilled chhapai karigar (block printer). Here's how the magic unfolds:

  • Carving the Block: Intricate wooden blocks are hand-carved by craftsmen, each design taking days to perfect. Every motif — from our playful elephants to blooming phoolwari gardens — starts as a carved teak block.
  • Mixing the Colours: Natural and eco-friendly dyes are mixed by hand, creating the vibrant, rich hues that make DoodleChic prints so distinctive.
  • The Print: The artisan dips the block into the dye and stamps it onto the fabric with steady, practiced hands — one impression at a time. No two prints are ever exactly alike.
  • Sun Drying & Washing: Printed fabric is laid out under the Rajasthan sun to set the colours, then washed and finished by hand.

The result? A kurta that carries the warmth of human hands, the heritage of a centuries-old craft, and a story worth wearing. 🌿
